A 4.4 and then a 3.3 this morning. Rachael and I slept through it, but Zeke woke us up. Crazy. Hope our friends at the plants have nothing exciting going on.

Crown Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT Chattanooga
https://ift.tt/2PXJtPT
Alright boys and girls, sit down for a "how not to do business" story. Crown Chrysler Dodge Jeep folks (https://ift.tt/2PXJtPT) apparently mixed my records up with another customer, never called me back about a key I ordered, told another customer it was their key, that I stole their identity, called me to get info, gave my personal cell number to another stranger-who then proceeded to call the police on me because "they have me on camera." How about, hire competent workers who can read, call people if there is a discrepancy, and then DON'T give out customer personal info to John Q. Public. Another fun fact, not a single manager that I've left a voicemail for has called me back.

I’ve learned quite a bit up here in Nashville the last few days in regards to Design Thinking. But...the biggest nugget has been that I think this city should be renamed Avacodo&brownbutterville. That from just a few observations of all the different foods we’ve been able to enjoy :)

How to lead when you’re not in charge. Gorillas—Influence vs. Authority. Influence > Authority. Make those around you better and more productive. Authority has title, leaders have people. #spigitignite2018

How to lead when you’re not in charge. ATM-You can’t take withdrawals until you first make deposits. You give before you get. When you deposit with people, you withdrawal with interest. #spigitignite2018

Leaders take the charge until they are given charge. Leadership is influence...it is a verb. It is action and not position. #spigitignite2018

How do you work around mid-level managers that act as an innovation barrier. Include them in the process in some way. Shared communications, planning, etc... #stickylayermgmt #innovate #spigitignite2018

Metrics that matter: Input, throughput, and output measurements. What passed/failed? What made it to production? Participation metrics are key. #innovate #spigitignite2018

You have to have executive support for innovation, but how do you get it? Data, commitment, passion, and alignment. Prove the value! #innovate #spigitignite2018

Blow up the playbooks, the typical way we do things. Stage gates work for core and known areas...not so much for the unknown space (refer to previous model) #spigitignite2018

Example of an orthodoxy in Mining: Rule 1, Do not share proprietary data. - GoldCorp published their geological data and created a challenge to have others prospect where to go next. They found 3 billion dollars from the challenge. don’t keep stupid rules :P #spigitignite2018

“Industries and companies tend to develop a set of habits and rules that shape widely held “conventional wisdom” over time — we call these rules “orthodoxies.” Geoff Tuff

If you want to increase the likelihood of success, don’t start in the Offering space, start on the ends (Configuration or Experience). Also...the more, the better. #spigitignite2018
